Representatives Larsen, Graves, Davids Introduce Resolution Recognizing National Drone Safety Awareness Week

Arlington, Va. - The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) congratulates Representatives Rick Larsen (WA-02), Garret Graves (LA-06), and Sharice Davids (KS-03) on their recent bipartisan introduction of a resolution designating the week of November 16-22, 2020 as National Drone Safety Awareness Week (NDSAW).

Promoting safe and responsible operation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), or drones, is a critical undertaking as they have become more widespread in the commercial and recreational fields. UAS are being used in a plethora of industrial scenarios – including surveying, infrastructure inspection, and farming – while also playing critical roles in public safety departments including firefighting, hostage recovery, and weather monitoring. NDSAW draws attention to the importance of always practicing safe flight operations and AUVSI is proud to partner with the Federal Aviation Administration on this annual education campaign.

This year, many industry associations and groups are hosting events during NDSAW covering a variety of topics, from how to become a certified Part 107 pilot to creating a backyard drone obstacle course for kids. Click here for a full list of events.

AUVSI appreciates the leadership shown by Reps. Larsen, Graves, and Davids in recognizing NDSAW. The unmanned systems industry looks forward to continuing a partnership with Congress as we collectively advance safety and innovation.
