UNMANNED SYSTEMS DEFENSE PHASE II: GROUND
July 29, 2021 | AUVSI Advocacy

Today, AUVSI hosted the final day of Phase II of Unmanned Systems Defense, the Association’s signature event connecting private and public stakeholders in the defense segment of the unmanned systems industry.
Throughout the day’s ground domain-focused programming, experts discussed the most recent updates to the National Robotics Roadmap, commercial market trends in autonomy, and the proposed 2022 federal budget for unmanned systems.
During the discussions, experts agreed that collaboration between the public and private sectors will advance integration.
The commercial sector is advancing autonomous systems to improve quality of life, enable increase flexibility, and to empower access to economic growth and sustainability. This goal is increasingly within reach as the pace of innovation accelerates across all three domains – but building trust in these systems and achieving scalability is essential to unlocking their full potential.
Civilian government agencies and the Department of Defense can help advance technology by bridging the gap between commercial and defense applications. DOD can leverage commercial advancements to benefit defense uses, thereby maintaining the U.S.’s competitive advantage and protecting warfighters in the field.
As the leading organization representing this industry, AUVSI seeks to build consensus among stakeholders in support of the development and integration of enabling technologies that cut across all domains. AUVSI’s advocacy work includes fostering relationships with appropriators on Capitol Hill, as well as program managers and procurement officers at the Pentagon, to support unmanned systems programs.
Register today for USD Phase III to take part in continued discussions about the latest programs of record and collaborate on the acquisition and integration of unmanned technologies.
