The winners of the 2020 AUVSI Chapter/Member of the Year Awards were announced on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

AUVSI Cascade was named the Chapter of the Year. Adrian Doko of the AUVSI Lone Star chapter was named Chapter Leader of the Year.

AUVSI North Carolina took home two awards, including the award for Chapter Communications, as well as the award for Chapter Recruitment. AUVSI Indiana won the award for Chapter Development.

“AUVSI’s 35 chapters and five satellite chapters help to keep our members engaged locally across the United States and around the world. Their efforts provide an opportunity for education and networking throughout the year, and a sense of community within the broader unmanned and autonomous systems ecosystem,” said AUVSI President and CEO Brian Wynne.

“What’s truly remarkable is that our Chapters are all run by volunteers and we’re so proud and appreciative of their hard work, dedication, and passion.”

Houston Mills, VP of Flight Operations & Safety at UPS, was named the Member of the Year. A member of the AUVSI Board of Directors since 2018, Mills has taken on additional roles as part of AUVSI’s Nominating Committee and UAS Advocacy Committee.

“He brings a clarity of thinking and passion to every discussion and – along with the full Board – has helped steer AUVSI through the uncertainty of COVID-19,” Wynne said.

“We’re grateful to have your support and honored to recognize your contributions this year. Thank you and congratulations!”
