Member Spotlight: Ocean Infinity America
November 3, 2025

Ocean Infinity America (OIA), a U.S.-based subsidiary of the UK parent company, Ocean Infinity, delivers robotic and autonomous maritime operations at scale, providing solutions and support to U.S. Government customers. The company leads the industry in lean-crewed surface vessel and sub-surface vehicle operations that enhance maritime security, exploration, and infrastructure protection.
Value of Ocean Infinity America’s AUVSI Membership
Chris Horak, OIA VP of Business Development & Marketing, says AUVSI membership is valuable because it “provides a venue to connect across industry and government, deepen Navy and Coast Guard ties, build B2B opportunities, and amplify our collective voice to Congress and policymakers regarding maritime issues.”
Exciting Industry Developments
Ryan Tomeny, Offshore Defense, LLC and chief consultant to Ocean Infinity America, points to the rapid advancement of remote technologies and maritime regulations as the most exciting development shaping the future of uncrewed systems. These innovations, he explains, will enable companies like Ocean Infinity to expand the safe, cost-effective use of robotic and autonomous surface and sub-surface systems for offshore operations at an unprecedented scale.
Recent milestones reflect this momentum. In 2025, Ocean Infinity joined Helsing, Blue Ocean Marine Tech Systems, and QinetiQ in a partnership to accelerate the deployment of AI and autonomy in maritime operations—helping allied navies digitize the oceans and protect vessels and critical undersea infrastructure. The company also secured an agreement with Malaysia to resume the search for MH370 and launched five of its new 14-meter NeedleFish Uncrewed Surface Vessel with the Kuwaiti Coast Guard, conducting unmanned maritime surveillance across 11,000 km² of territorial waters.
Industry Challenges
According to Tomeny, there is “an urgent need to elevate awareness around the cost-effective, mission-critical support that contractor-operated offshore support vessels deliver—from maritime domain awareness and R&D support to deepwater undersea operations and executing strategic missions…”
Ocean Infinity America’s Role in the Industry’s Future
Ocean Infinity is shaping the future of maritime operations through the world’s largest robotic fleet, operated remotely from onshore control centers. Its scalable, mission-critical systems enable deepwater surveys, mothership support, and coordinated multi-UxS missions—demonstrating how autonomous capabilities can redefine ocean operations at scale.
Support for High Safety Standards
Safety remains a core pillar of Ocean Infinity’s mission. Its Armada vessels are DNV-classed and comply with IMO safety conventions under SOLAS and MARPOL. In 2024, the company became the first to earn a DNV Statement of Compliance for remote vessel operations, a milestone Tomeny says underscores Ocean Infinity’s commitment to the highest maritime safety standards.
