January 18, 2024 | AUVSI News

The Dawn of Autonomy continues the “New Tech”- focused month sponsored by AIBOT with two special guests – Dr. Chris Zarzar, Director of Weather Strategy and Innovation at TruWeather Solutions and Basil Yap President, AeroX.
Chris Zarzar, is an experienced consultant and academic skilled in GIS, numerical weather prediction with a background in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Basil has led North Carolina’s UAS Program, co-founded a venture fund for startups and has also served on NASA’s Aeronautics Research and Technology Roundtable.
As the UAS and AAM space continue to mature, we have begun to see more beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) approvals. When the pilot is removed from the aircraft, or when the pilot is separate from the operating environment, we are losing the best situational awareness sensor for both weather and aircraft deconfliction. This session of new tech looks at how TruWeather Solutions and AeroX are enhancing aviation safety in North Carolina by addressing data gaps, particularly in urban environments.
AeroX is building an urban UAS traffic management system utilizing ground-based radar and other cutting-edge technology to enable routine BVLOS operations in multiple markets. TruWeather Solutions continues revolutionizing aviation by enhancing safety and efficiency, ensuring increased flight time during adverse conditions. Their plug-and-play fusion engine, part of a turnkey weather system, provides real-time microclimate information. Leveraging NASA Small Business Innovation Grants, TruWeather is a leading 3rd Party Weather Provider in multiple states. TruWeather V360, an advanced decision support software for low-altitude operations, offers automatic weather estimates, route-specific conditions, and customizable alerts.
Catch this insightful session and gain valuable insights on AeroX and TruWeather’s new tech that enables weather-aware aviation.
