AUVSI Statement on FAA Nominee Bedford Advancing Out of Committee
June 25, 2025
The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) applauds the Senate Commerce Committee for advancing the nomination of Bryan Bedford to serve as Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and urges the full Senate to move swiftly on his confirmation, which AUVSI has endorsed.
Michael Robbins, President & CEO of AUVSI, said, “FAA leadership is critical to the operation of the U.S. aviation system, including the safe integration of uncrewed aircraft systems and advanced air mobility (AAM) technologies. We look forward to working with Mr. Bedford, whose nomination we enthusiastically endorse, to implement key priorities under the FAA Reauthorization Act and to accelerate progress on long-awaited rulemakings like Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations and Section 2209 airspace security provisions, as well as making progress on integration pathways for eVTOLs and advanced automation.”
With the FAA advancing major regulatory and operational initiatives under the direction of the 2024 Reauthorization Act and the Trump Administration’s “Unleashing American Drone Dominance” Executive Order, confirmed leadership at the agency is essential. AUVSI and its members are committed to partnering with the FAA and Administrator-nominee Bedford to ensure that the United States continues to lead the world in safe, secure, and innovative aviation.
