AUVSI Statement on Army Short Range Reconnaissance Award to Teal Drones
November 19, 2024 | AUVSI Advocacy
In response to news that the U.S. Army awarded the Short Range Reconnaissance Tranche 2 (SRR T2) Program of Record to Teal Drones, Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) President and CEO Michael Robbins made the following statement:
“Congratulations to the Teal Drones team, and their parent company, Red Cat Holdings – well done! The U.S. Army moving forward with SRR is a step in the right direction, and AUVSI applauds the U.S. Army’s move toward ensuring that our warfighters have the tools they need to deter aggression and to be prepared to fight and win.
“AUVSI urges the U.S. Army and the broader DoD to act immediately by placing large-scale orders for uncrewed systems, including SRR drones. This decisive action is critical to ensuring the United States not only keeps pace with rapidly evolving warfare but also strengthens its defense industrial base and meets the pressing demands of modern wars of attrition.
“The U.S. leads the world in technology innovation, yet we are falling behind in the speed and scale of our investment and industrial base readiness compared to global competitors. A whole-of-government approach with urgent investment is essential to deploy an Uncrewed Arsenal, For Democracy and secures our strategic edge. The time to act is now. Delay is not an option.”
Teal Drones, and its parent company, Red Cat Holdings, is a member of AUVSI’s Air and Defense Advocacy Committees and supporter of its Partnership for Drone Competitiveness.
