Media Advisory: Webinar on Drones for Government Operations, Jan. 17

Discussion on the growing use of UAS technology by government agencies

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) will host a webinar on how government agencies, within and beyond the U.S. Department of Defense, are increasingly integrating unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into their operating procedures. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. EST.

“Protecting Government Holdings with Unmanned Systems” will highlight growing efforts by public organizations to leverage unmanned technology, something traditionally embraced by the Department of Defense and defense contractors. The webinar will feature JC Coffey, executive director, unmanned systems at Cherokee Nation Technologies, which supports the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Mark Bathrick, director, Office of Aviation Services (OAS) at the U.S. Department of the Interior, to discuss the role of unmanned systems in government operations.

Additionally, the webinar will preview AUVSI Unmanned Systems Defense. Protection. Security. (USDPS), the most comprehensive military- and government-focused event in the unmanned systems industry, at which experts will address innovation, investment, and sustainability challenges and opportunities. USDPS will be held Feb. 6 to 8, 2018, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, located at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md.

Registration for the webinar is complimentary for AUVSI members and qualified media, and $49 for non-members. Registration will close on Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. EST. For more information or to register, contact Tom McMahon at tmcmahon@auvsi.org or (571) 255-7786.
