Velodyne Lidar’s third annual World Safety Summit on Autonomous Technology (WSS) will take place as a virtual event on Oct. 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. PDT.

Featuring a diverse group of experts and thought leaders from industry, government, journalism and academia, the summit will seek to advance understanding about how autonomous technologies can enable safer mobility by addressing safety and autonomy issues in vehicle transportation.

Some of the topics that will be covered during the summit include authentic self-driving programs, advanced driver assistance systems, regulatory practices and the future of autonomy. To advance the potential of autonomous technologies for improving safety on roadways, the event will deliver transparency and education while promoting collaboration of a broad range of perspectives and creative solutions.

“The World Safety Summit has a great lineup of expert speakers who will spark engaging dialogue on the safety benefits that can be achieved with autonomous vehicles,” says Sally Frykman, vice president of Communications, Velodyne Lidar.

“These conversations will not only inform but also be the catalyst for collaboration in making safer mobility a reality.”

For this year’s summit, Velodyne is joining together with the Western Automotive Journalists’ “Silicon Valley Reinvents the Wheel,” which is an annual automotive technology conference.

The summit’s first keynote speaker is Dr. Mark Rosekind, chief safety innovation officer at Zoox. Charlie Vogelheim, of Western Automotive Journalists, will serve as the moderator for the summit.

In advance of the summit, Velodyne will host a webinar on Friday, Oct. 16 that previews topics on the safety and transportation benefits that can be achieved with autonomous technologies. Pamela Gauci, senior marketing manager, will host the webinar. Oliver Cameron, founder & CEO, Voyage, will be the featured guest.
