Introducing: Assuring Autonomy

Welcome to AUVSI’s new blog, titled Assuring Autonomy. That brand may sound familiar, as our CEO and President Brian Wynne rolled out a video series spotlighting leaders within the unmanned systems industry under the same name in the summer of 2020. However, since the quest to increase knowledge about and familiarity with unmanned systems will be many-pronged in nature, the Assuring Autonomy brand will now encompass this blog as well as future iterations of educational videos.

AUVSI takes very seriously the responsibility to increase positive public perception of all things unmanned, so this blog will focus on the many innovative and life-changing technologies our industry offers. Additionally, relevant legislative news at all levels – local, state, and federal – will be covered, along with suggestions on how to become an advocate for unmanned systems. Movers and shakers within the industry will be highlighted, in conjunction with the varied applications for UAS, UMS, and UGV. Industry lingo will also be explained, as there is a reliance on acronyms that can be confusing! (UAS stands for unmanned aerial systems, UMS stands for unmanned maritime systems, and UGV stands for unmanned ground vehicles.)

While this blog will be an AUVSI-wide effort, the primary staffers writing articles will be the AUVSI Advocacy team – Michael Robbins, Mike Smitsky, and Jackie Beckwith. We are very excited to begin this initiative, and encourage any and all readers to reach out with questions or concerns. Thank you for your interest in the unmanned systems industry – it is an innovative space, to be sure, and AUVSI is honored to work on behalf of our many members towards the overall goal of pushing the industry forward.
