AUVSI to Host Webinar on Understanding GPS Navigation in Contested Environments

Review of uses and challenges with Global Positioning Systems for UAS

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) will host a webinar, “Understanding GPS Navigation in Contested Environments,” on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at 3 p.m. EDT.

Precise location is a bedrock technology for the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) industry. A Global Positioning System (GPS) is the primary location provider and understanding how it works and what can cause it not to work is critical to planning flights.

As the UAS industry grows, continual access to precise location information will become increasingly important. Ted Driver, head of analytics at OneSky, which provides enterprise-ready software solutions to the commercial unmanned-flight industry, will host the webinar.

Driver will cover the basics of GPS positioning and the issues that arise from using GPS and other Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) as location providers. He will also describe operational results, including misconceptions about height systems and clarifying their usage.

Registration for the webinar is available online and free for all attendees. Click here to register.
