Skydio Sets September Launch Date for New Autonomous Drone Technology
September 12, 2023 | AUVSI News

In the small UAS industry, autonomy is changing everything. AI-powered drones help enterprise users do more: capture more data, navigate more complex environments, and work more efficiently. As the leading U.S. drone manufacturer, Skydio has watched demand for autonomous drones increase across sectors as the underlying technology matures. In the utilities industry, inspection teams are using Skydio’s autonomous drones to evaluate critical infrastructure, simultaneously improving the efficiency of data capture and decreasing risk to workers. In the public safety field, Skydio drones are being used to improve their situational awareness, conduct high-stakes search and rescue missions, and help keep first responders out of harm’s way. For teams operating in national security and defense, autonomous drones are streamlining intelligence and reconnaissance missions, freeing operators to focus on analysis and decision-making instead of piloting. Ultimately, Skydio sees advancements in autonomous flight as the key to a safer world. They design drones to improve energy efficiency, avoid deadly accidents, build reliable infrastructure, limit pollution, eliminate waste, and protect people. On September 20, Skydio plans to announce the next major leap towards this ultimate vision.
At Ascend, an event for drone innovators, they’ll showcase their most intelligent flight software and aerial data technology yet.
Rather than focusing on incremental change, Skydio sees this new technology as a paradigm shift that will transform the perception and use of drones throughout society. The announcement will be made at 9:00 AM Pacific Time, during a live, virtual keynote with Skydio CEO Adam Bry.
He’ll then be joined by leaders at the New York Police Department, the Kansas Department of Transportation, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and Axxon, who will engage in a discussion on the implications of Skydio’s breakthrough. Register on Aville – an AUVSI community to get access to the live keynote experience and see the future of aerial intelligence.
