Unmanned Systems take Center Stage at NURC Birthday

LA SPEZIA, Italy - The NATO Undersea Research Centre (NURC), celebrating its 50th anniversary, has grown from its origins as an anti-submarine warfare research agency to one that conducts a broad range of maritime missions, many of them involving unmanned systems.

In conjunction with the anniversary celebration, NURC and AUVSI sponsored AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems Europe 2009, a three-day event that drew on a wide range of speakers and all aspects of maritime unmanned systems, everything from the high-flying Global Hawk (in its Broad Area Maritime Surveillance guise) to autonomous underwater systems.
