Membership
Membership of the UnSysInst is restricted to individuals who are current members of AUVSI. Should Members or Fellows of the UnSysInst allow their AUVSI membership to lapse, they will be reinstated at their former level in the UnSysInst automatically when they renew their AUVSI membership. Members and Fellows of the UnSysInst may resign at any time without notice.
Individual members include both private members and individuals nominated as members as a result of a corporate membership. The key point is that in the UnSysInst, strict impartiality and objectivity are required. Members and Fellows are required to represent solely their own views and opinions.
To become a member of the UnSysInst, individuals are to submit an application and should demonstrate their suitability for the types of activities which the Institute undertakes. Clearly individuals have a very diverse range of qualifications and experience and it is not practical to have a definitive set of standards to qualify for admission. The following types of qualifications and experience would normally demonstrate suitability for admission:
- Professor, Director of Studies, Lecturer, Teacher, Post-graduate Researcher working in subject areas appropriate to unmanned systems.
- Those who have presented technical papers at AUVSI events (business briefings are excluded from this category).
- Staff and students who have participated in AUVSI’s student competitions.
- Professionals (eg lawyers, actuaries, medical personnel, psychologists, consultants) working in subject areas appropriate to unmanned systems.
- Members of corporate concept, research and development teams.
- Members of operations staffs working in subject areas appropriate to unmanned systems.
- Market analysts, journalists and authors working in subject areas appropriate to unmanned systems.
