Volaero Drones, which is a professional UAS services company based in Miami, Florida, has teamed up with Bill Booth Outdoors and Bruni Infrared to track pythons in the Florida Everglades, using UAS and thermal technology.

More than 100,000 Burmese pythons are estimated to be living in the Everglades, and they are reportedly “ravaging the wildlife.”

The state’s small mammal population is being decimated as a result of the python population multiplying exponentially, thanks in large part to the fact that female python can lay up to 80 eggs per clutch.

With that in mind, Volaero Drones has partnered with Bill Booth Outdoors and Bruni Infrared to try to mitigate this issue. Bill Booth is “a famous outdoorsman with extensive experience hunting pythons in the Everglades,” and to date, has close to 100 python snake catches, while Bart Bruni, Director of Bruni Infrared, is one of 21 Master Certified Thermographers in the world.

The two entities will use their subject matter expertise to help advance Volaero’s technology in an effort to address the python issue.

“We have a great team on board and we believe we can make a positive impact in this area,” says Volaero’s CEO Charles Zwebner.

The Florida Fish & Wildlife and the South Florida Water Management District are also looking for ways to solve the python problem in the area.
