FLIR Systems Canada Partners With ING Robotic Aviation for Inspection UAS

By Priya Potapragada

FLIR Systems Canada, a thermal imaging systems company, and ING Robotic Aviation, an unmanned aerial vehicle services provider, are collaborating to develop an unmanned aircraft for infrared inspections and visual gas leak detection.

The aircraft is capable of aerial inspection for a range of purposes, including inspecting electrical equipment and towers, buildings and roofing, solar panels, flare stacks and fires.

ING Robotic Aviation integrated the UAS with the ability to locate hydrocarbon gas leaks from the air to inspect pipeline, rail cars and marine vessels, to name a few capabilities. FLIR has equipped the aircraft with its camera and gas detection filter and then uses FLIR inspection software to analyze images captured by the camera.
