Naval Engineering Support Team (NEST)

NEST is comprised of several Navy engineers from around the country who are available to teams competing in the AUVSI AUV competition.  The NEST members have different experiences to offer and are available to all competing teams to help with engineering, testing, and logistical issues faced during the design and development processes.

NEST will provide assistance where possible and potentially conduct onsite visits - visits are conducted on a first come first served basis for those groups who would like to have that interface.  NEST is excited to have the opportunity to help in any way possible.

NEST Hardware Library

The Naval Engineering Support Team has compiled a collection of hardware that can be used on ASV's to satisfy tasks like those in the AUVSI competition.  This hardware can be borrowed by competing teams during their vehicle development process for testing and evaluation purposes, for a period up to 3 weeks (extension possible, but not guaranteed depending on inventory).

Items include:
            Pingers (RJE ULB-364 27kHz or 37kHz)
            Hydrophones (Reson TC 4013)
            IMUs (Microstrain 3DM-GX2)
Compasses (PNI TCM5 or Honeywell HMR3000)

For a complete description of the items, refer to the datasheets.

To borrow an item or for contact information please see the request form.
