AUVSI Firefighting Tabletop Exercise 2010 (FF-TTX 2010)
AUVSI’s Firefighting TTX 2010 (FF-TTX 2010) in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the Naval Post Graduate School was conducted 27-30 September 2010 at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah. With approximately 70 participants representing 40 organizations across government, industry and academia the FF-TTX 2010 was a phenomenal event. The exercise featured two full days of live fire scenarios where AUVSI members had the opportunity to demonstrate a wide variety of technologies. Unmanned air and ground systems were showcased as well as UAS control stations and communications equipment.
FF-TTX 2010 also featured two days of interactive wildland fire scenario development and discussion at the Tooele County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Tooele, Utah. The discussions allowed the unmanned systems community to better understand the challenges of a real world wildland fire environment, while the fire community learned firsthand about the capabilities and benefits of incorporating unmanned technologies into wildland fire prediction, suppression, management and prevention.
A final report detailing the live fire scenarios at Dugway, the unmanned technologies that were demonstrated and key findings from the discussions will be provided to all exercise participants and made available on AUVSI’s website in December 2010.
