AUVSI’s Brian Wynne Appointed to FAA Management Advisory Council

ARLINGTON, Va. – U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao has named Brian Wynne, president and CEO of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Management Advisory Council (MAC). Wynne, who will serve a three-year term on the MAC, will represent the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) community and provide counsel and advice to the FAA on policy and regulatory matters, as well as the agency’s management and spending.

“Collaboration between stakeholders increases accountability across the entire aviation community, and I am proud to be selected to help represent unmanned aircraft operators on the MAC,” said Wynne. “I look forward to working with the FAA, as well as the other members of the MAC, to ensure that the skies remain safe for all users – both manned and unmanned.”

In addition to the MAC, Wynne was appointed to the FAA’s Drone Advisory Committee in late 2016. AUVSI has served on numerous FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committees, including those for remote identification standards for UAS and the UAS registration task force. AUVSI also co-hosted the FAA’s second annual UAS Symposium earlier this year, bringing together stakeholders from industry, government and academia to discuss the integration of UAS into the airspace.

Wynne joins 12 other members of the MAC, including: Phillip Trenary, former CEO, Pinnacle Airlines; William Ris, former Vice Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, American Airlines; Donna McLean, former U.S. Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Budget and Programs and Chief Financial Officer; Jeffrey Shane, former U.S. Department of Transportation Undersecretary for Policy; Huntley Lawrence, Director, Aviation Department, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; Richard DeVos, President, Windquest Group and former CEO, Amway; Jeffrey A. Rosen, Deputy Secretary, U.S. Department of Transportation; Maj. Gen. (ret.) Rowayne Schatz, Associate Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, U.S. Air Force; Paul Rinaldi, President, National Air Traffic Controllers Association; Steve Alterman, President, Cargo Airline Association; John E. "Jack" Potter, President, CEO, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority; and Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO, SpaceX.
