Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
1 March: Avalon 2011

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems-Australia (AUVS-Australia) held its first annual conference in Melbourne in February 2011. In association with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and the Avalon Air Show AUVS-Australia was able to host over 150 delegates from an international stage, including the United States, Canada, Singapore and Israel to name a few.
With our Sponsor’s support the conference spanned 3 days, being held at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne and a breakout session at the Avalon Air Show. Opening our conference was The Hon. Richard Dalla-Riva MLC, Minister for Employment & Industrial Relations, and Minister for Manufacturing, Exports & Trade Victoria, Australia. From our keynote speaker, Air Commodore Ken Watson, Commander Air Force Training Group, Royal Australian Air Force, to our U.S. invited speaker Col. Robert Sova, UA Army Unmanned Systems Capability Manager, our delegates took in a cross section of UAV presentations concentrating on providing insight into future capabilities for both military and civilian capabilities.
